There is a strategy in station call signs: A station whose call sign begins with " K " means that the station is located west of the Mississippi River; a station whose call sign begins with W is located to the east of the Mississippi. This strategy is only applied to stations formed after the 's or so.
Wow, I would never have figured that out by myself. Thank you very much!! No problem! It's almost impossible to figure it out for yourself because so many "older" stations' call signs violate the policy, of course!
I've always wondered why the older stations were not required or at least encouraged to change their call signs in order to conform to the policy. Click to expand
