In poetry, repetition is repeating words, phrases, lines, or stanzas. Stanzas are groups of lines that are together. In a poem or song, a refrain is a line or group of lines that regularly repeat, usually at the end of a stanza in a poem or at the end of a verse in a song.

Quite simply, repetition is the repeating of a word or phrase. It is a common rhetorical device used to add emphasis and stress in writing and speech. Examples of repetition in a Sentence Sometimes repetition is necessary to drive a point home. I quit my job at the factory because I hated the mindless repetition.

In rhetoric, an epizeuxis is the repetition of a word or phrase in immediate succession, typically within the same sentence, for vehemence or emphasis. As a rhetorical device, epizeuxis is utilized to create an emotional appeal, thereby inspiring and motivating the audience. Epistrophe vs. Not to be confused with epistrophe is its opposite, anaphora, which is the repetition of one or more words at the beginning of successive phrases, clauses, or sentences.

A rhyme is a repetition of similar sounds usually, exactly the same sound in the final stressed syllables and any following syllables of two or more words. Many times, your songs will have verses or choruses that exceed 4 lines.

You can repeat any of the previously listed rhyming schemes to fit your verse, or , you can work with a combination! These rhyme schemes are designed to help and guide you in your songwriting, not to restrict you. And if rhyming is tough for you now, the more you write with rhymes, the easier it will become. All things considered, the best way to get better at songwriting is to keep on writing. Write as much as you can and then write some more.
