Should i update ultrasn0w

As mentioned in our previous post about UltraSn0w, this will only work with iPhone 4 baseband 1. If your baseband is different from these, then you can't unlock for the time being. If your baseband matches one of those above but you are on an older firmware, use PwnageTool to update while preserving the baseband.

Just about 2 weeks after releasing the previous version, the Dev Team released today UltraSn0w 1. Like its predecessor, this newer version of UltraSn0w doesn't unlock the latest basebands.

UltraSn0w will only work for the older iPhone 4 baseband 1. You can use PwnageTool to jailbreak your iPhone and preserve your baseband for the latest UltraSn0w unlock. The latest release of UltraSn0w does not support new basebands, it only fixes compatibility issues with already-unlocked iPhones.

In this tutorial, we'll show you how to install the latest version of UltraSn0w to unlock your iPhone running iOS 4. Following the release of the updated PwnageTool 4. UltraSn0w 1. Please note, this will only work for the older iPhone 4 baseband 1. It can not unlock newer basebands since there is currently no unlock available.

Last week we told you about a new unlock service called CutYourSim that offered a remote, permanent unlock for the iPhone.

Sounds like a dream come true, right? The dream didn't last long. CutYourSim has already announced that it is discontinuing its unlock service Yay, we got a jailbreak for iOS 4. Ok, but what's up with the unlock? My guess is that the Dev Team is working on updating PwnageTool for 4. When they release PwnageTool, most likely in the coming days, they will also update their UltraSn0w unlock.

Those of you who have updated to 4. The Dev Team just released their unlock for iPhone 4. To check what baseband your iPhone has, launch Settings. The digits in front of Modem Firmware indicate the baseband your iPhone has. The iPhone Dev Team is yet to update the official ultrasn0w unlock tool. It is possible that they will do that after a jailbreak has been achieved for non-A4 based devices.

In the meantime the ultrasn0w fixer for iOS 6 will fill this void. Before you can go about installing ultrasn0w fixer, you must have an iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS that is jailbroken , tethered for now, on iOS 6. You can learn how to do that, here. Step 3: Install ultrasn0w from Cydia.
